Tracking
The overall spacing across a word or block.
Tracking is the average space between every letter in a word, line, or whole block of text. While kerning fine-tunes individual pairs, tracking adjusts everything at once.
Loose tracking can give small uppercase labels a calm, considered feel. Tight tracking is rarely a good idea — letters bump into each other and become hard to read.
