Gutter

The space between columns in a grid.

A gutter is the gap between columns . Without gutters, content from adjacent columns would touch and look like a wall of text. Gutters give each column its own breathing room.

Gutters are usually consistent across a layout — same width on every row. A wider gutter feels airy. A narrower gutter feels denser and more efficient.
