Tint
A color mixed with white to make it lighter.
A tint is what you get when you add white to a color. Pink is a tint of red. Sky blue is a tint of blue. Tints feel softer and gentler than the original color.
Designers use tints for backgrounds, hover states, and large surfaces where the pure color would feel too heavy. Tints carry the family resemblance without dominating.
