Splash screen

A branded screen shown briefly when an app launches.

A splash screen is the first screen a mobile app shows when launched — usually the logo on a colored background — while the rest of the app loads in the background. It hides the cold-start delay and reinforces the brand.

Keep it under two seconds. Modern guidance is to fade smoothly into the first real screen so it feels like a transition, not a wait. Never use a splash screen as a chance to show ads or marketing.
