Button

An element you click or tap to make something happen.

A button is the most direct way to invite an action. Click "Save," "Submit," or "Sign up" — each is a button asking the user to make a choice.

Button design carries a lot of weight. The primary button on a screen should be the most prominent — only one — and others (secondary, ghost) get quieter as they get less important.

Buttons live in several states — normal, hover, focus, pressed, disabled, loading — and each needs to feel like feedback while still being the same button. On mobile, give every button at least 48 pixels of tap area; fingers are not pixels.
